Installing Window Boxes
If you want to spruce up the outside of your home, one of the easiest ways of doing this is by installing window boxes. If you don't have much room in your yard and you love flowers. These boxes can provide you with the small flowerbeds that brighten your day. Nothing looks as beautiful as trails of blooming flowers extending from window boxes during the spring and summer. Even if you love flowers but don't want the work attached to planting a garden, all you have to do is visit a nursery and buy the annual or perennial flowers for the boxes and presto - instant garden.
When it comes to choosing window boxes, there are endless choices available. You can have plain boxes with a straight design, those that have intricate swirls and scrolls and those with liners inside. The box can sit on the window ledge or hand from a hook just outside your window. When you want to water the plants all you have to do is open the window and give them the nourishment they need.
Window boxes also come in a wide variety of materials price ranges. The materials include:
Wood
Bronze
Composite
Vinyl
Fiberglass, and
Metal
You may need to do a little work securing the box to the window, but ordinary tools, such as a screwdriver will be all you need.
You do have to be mindful of the size of the ledge on your window if you want a box that sits on this ledge. You should never place a large box on a narrow ledge because it won't stay there. In addition to tipping over and ruining your flowers, it may also damage the windowsill and cost you more money than you planned to spend. Also don't try to cram too many flowers into the box as they will need room to expand and grow.
