Porch Ceilings
Porch ceilings look really great with beadboard installed around the edges of the roof or overhang. This basically means installing paneling on the underside of the roof so that the ceiling looks like a finished product when you sit back in your chair and look up at the porch. First of all you will need to calculate how much material you need to buy to complete this project. The easiest way to do this is to measure the longest span of the porch and divide this number by the width of the beadboard plank to find out how many strips you will need. Just in case you make mistakes, it's best to add in a few extra so you won't have to make a return trip to the store.

A nail gun and an air compressor will make the job go mush faster and will not put as much pressure on your arms as using a hammer will. You should also look for preprimed beadboard to reduce the finishing time for the ceiling. When you cut the planks, you should also prime the ends to reduce the possibility of the wood rotting. Once you have the boards in place, then you can apply a coat of paint to make the porch look as elegant as the rest of your house.
It is important to finish the ceiling of your porch. It is the entrance to your home so you want to have it looking its best. Even if you don't want to install any extras on the ceiling, you should stain or paint the wood to match the rest of the porch. Sit back in your favorite chair and look up. This is what visitors see when they spend some time on the porch so you don't want them turned off by an unfinished ceiling.
