Porch Designs

There are so many different types of porch designs available that one can choose from, you probably wouldn’t even know where to start! It would depend on where you would like the porch though; many people have it in the front of their homes by the front door, even more will have it installed at the back leading out to the garden, and some people even have it from the second story with stairs going all the way down to the ground. Of course if you have a double-story house and would like this feature, it is going to cost you more money than an ordinary porch would, but it proves to be absolutely stunning and greatly beneficial. The only thing here is that you will have to choose the finest materials as it will be even more exposed to all the different kinds of weather conditions.

Having one of these porch designs is a great idea, especially if you have a spacious garden, with or without a swimming pool. The only danger here is if you have small children you should consider putting up a high barrier around the porch, like choosing one of the porch designs that have very high frames and possibly screening too. Animals might also be a problem, but it shouldn’t take them long to become accustom to the stairs and find their way to the bottom with ease.

You can even design your own porch and take it to a builder and have them build it for you. When you have drawn a rough plan of what you would like, they will look at it and probably come and look at the area where you want it installed. They will then scope the area, taking all possibilities into consideration, and determine if the porch can in fact be built in that exact area. You can then ask them for a quotation for the building of it and take the matter from there. You might want to go through a few different building companies to determine which will be more cost effective for you.

Many people choose to have a porch with no roof, while others prefer it with a roof. The main reason for the roof is to protect the people sitting under it, from the wind, rain or sunshine and it also somewhat protects the porch itself so that it doesn’t get damaged quite that easily. It is all up to you though, but if you do not wish to constantly maintain and restore your porch, you might want to go for one that has a roof. It might take a very long time, depending on the quality of the materials used, but the porch will eventually start to warp, fade in color and crack from the weather it has constantly been exposed to. The roof will not completely prevent this from happening, but it will prolong the damage.

Porch designs are relatively endless, whether you are interested in a design you saw advertised or it is your own design, you are sure to enjoy the benefits of the porch as well as all the visitors you will suddenly be getting!
