Storage Sheds 2

Every homeowner needs a storage shed, but not all storage sheds are the same. They can be permanent or portable and made of different materials, such as wood, plastic metal or concrete. Even if you have never built anything yourself, you can build one of these sheds from the kits that are available at garden centers, home improvement stores and online. Everything you need to build the shed is included in the kit and in the case of metal or plastic sheds, they just snap together.

When you buy a kit, the wood or other material needed for the building or assembling process is all pre-cut to the measurements that you need. These materials include the:
• Floor joists
• Floor plates
• Deck
• Roof trusses
• Wall studs and plates
• Brackets
• Siding for the exterior

Not all kits include the floor, so this is something that you should check on before you buy. You may have to build the floor first by pouring a concrete slab or building a wood floor.

If you decide to go with wood for your shed, you should consider the type of wood you want to use. Cedar is the best choice because it is resistant to weather, rot and insect infestation. In addition, as it ages it turns a really neat color of gray that adds to the ambiance of any property. Poly vinyl carbonate is also a good choice because it is resistant to corrosion, is not affected by heat and is quite durable and sturdy.

The size of your shed will depend on how much you want to store inside. For the most part, such sheds are just places to store things that you wouldn't want to have in your basement, such as a lawn mower. They are also great places to store seasonal items such as the kids' bicycles during the winter months or your gardening tools.
