Sunroom furniture

When you decide to add a sunroom to your home, you first have to plan out exactly what you want to do with your sunroom, how you want to put it to use, etc. You could use the sunroom as a bedroom, an attic, a bathroom, a recreational room, and also as an office room. It is important that you first decide how you want to utilize your sunroom, because you shall have to buy furniture and construction material depending on that. Different materials will be required based on what kind of use the sunroom will be put to.

You have to think about a few things before you start constructing the sunroom. You have to ensure that the windows in the sunroom face towards the south. Since the south indicated by the compass can be slightly different from the solar south, you should watch the sun’s movement and then place the sunroom’s windows accordingly. Generally, the walls and roof of the sunroom are made of glass. However, this depends on the climate of the region where you live. If you live in a region which gets the maximum amount of sunrays, then you could decide to have only the sunroom walls made of glass. Or you could also have partial glass coverings. If you live in a cold area where there is snow frequently, you could have partial glass roofing. Or you could have skylights filtering sunlight into your home. If you want to install bathtubs inside the sunroom and have a spa-like feel to it, then you should enclose the whole area with glass. Alternatively, in case you want to make the sunroom look like an actual room, you could opt for knee walls. These will be useful because they will allow electrical outlets to run through them easily.

Sunroom furnitureWhen it comes to getting furniture for your sunroom, you’ll be faced with a lot of choices. However, comfort is the key to sunroom furniture. Sunrooms are meant to be relaxed in, for which your furniture has to be conducive to relaxation. When you go to buy your sunroom’s furniture, you should sit in each piece before you purchase it. It might look incredible, but it might be very uncomfortable when you sit on. Put it through the sitting test before you buy it. You should have furniture made of wood or with wood accents, of bamboo, or of wicker. These materials will lend a natural feel to your sunroom.

Drawers, nightstand drawers, end table, folding screens, chairs and cushions, cushioned ottoman, TV stand, plant stand, mirror, armchairs, side chairs, clock table, wine racks, chaise lounge, bistro table are some common furniture pieces for sunrooms, coming in materials like wrought iron, cast aluminum and wood.
